Edie Yakutis is a second-career rabbinic student who was accepted into HUC-JIR after working with Microsoft Corporation for 22 years. Many of you know Edie, as she is also a Temple Sholom congregant. She is looking forward to sharing her learning this summer with the class, “Judaism 201; So you’re a Jew, now what”, in addition to co-teaching with Tim Sprague a Financial Peace University series and providing pastoral support visits.
She and her husband, Leo, joined Temple Sholom shortly after they moved to Cincinnati in 2015, along with 4 dogs. They relocated to Cincinnati from the Charlotte, NC area, where the 2 of them were one of the 12 founding families of Temple Solel, in Fort Mill, SC. She served there as a lay leader. She also worked with that synagogue to achieve non-profit status and URJ membership within 2 years’ of founding. They have a son, Nicholas, who currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with his wife, Mandie.
