Teacher: Sally Schneider
Sally has been a passionate facilitator of writing circles at Women Writing for (a) Change for the past twelve years. She discovered the magic of WWf(a)C in 1999, when she attended her first semester class. Finding her voice, telling her story, and being heard, was a transformational experience. Through her participation in these circles she grew as a writer and in her capacity to listen to and support others. She further developed these skills as a student in the Feminine Leadership Academy (FLA). After graduating from the FLA in 2006, Sally was invited to join the faculty of Women Writing for (a) Change. Since 2007, she has had the privilege of regularly facilitating Core Classes (semester-long writing circles). She has also led an interfaith writing circle, an afterschool writing program for youth at the JCC, and sample classes at the Campbell County Library, the Women’s Connection, and Wise Temple Sisterhood.
Sally enjoys the music of language and likes to play with words. Her writing usually takes the form of journaling, essays, and poems for kids of all ages. In addition to writing, Sally relishes her role as “Storycatcher.” As such, she creates a nurturing environment in which writers feel safe enough to “go deep” and share their most authentic selves.
Sally is delighted to bring the circle practices she learned at Women Writing for (a) Change to Temple Sholom and looks forward to writing with her chaverim!
