Reform Ohio Meeting for Criminal Justice Campaign
March 11 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Reform Ohio is a new project of the Religious Action Center (RAC) of Reform Judaism that is working to engage Reform Jews throughout Ohio who feel called to justice work. The idea is to have the most impact possible by working collectively: combining the energy and voices of all the Reform Jews in Ohio on one issue at a time. Right now we are working on a criminal justice campaign focused on low level drug offenders. These people are not drug dealers, are not violent and are struggling with addiction. With our value of teshuva in mind, we are working on a program that would take the money used to incarcerate these individuals and use it on treating their addiction and mental illnesses instead.
On March 11th, members of the Cincinnati and Dayton Reform Jewish community will gather at Wise Temple to learn more about Reform Ohio, begin training in some community organizing skills to put to use on our congregations and be invited to join our first campaign for criminal justice.
