Simchat Torah Saturday, October 10, 7:00-9:00 PM
Simchat Torah celebrates the joy Torah brings to our lives, and how you find yourself in Torah is as important as what you find. Join us for evening with master sketch-noter, Steve Silbert, via Zoom. Together, we will learn basic sketchnoting techniques and explore drawing as a means to connect to our sacred text. There is no cost to participants. Supplies: post-it note and a writing utensil and a few sheets of paper.
Steve Silbert is the creator of VisualTorah, a means of using drawing to connect to greater meaning in our sacred texts. He is also on the board of Bayit:Building Jewish, a spiritual innovation startup that works to bring innovative tools to your spiritual journey.
Says Steve, “I don’t self-identify as an artist. I am a left handed with an undergraduate degree in Physics. I found and joined the sketchnoting community to practice drawing ideas not art. My intention is to draw ideas that are approachable. That’s a particularly useful approach when trying to connect with Torah and possibly to connect others with it in an engaging manner. Focus onthe material and the pen will go where it’s supposed to go. One of my wishes is to help people learn to use the tool of doodling to learn Torah.” To learn more, go to yourbayit.org.”
